Spešov: Holiday Apartments and Houses

Spešov lies in a valley on the right bank of the Svitava and along a stream. The village is situated at the foot of Kešůvka, an offshoot of the Hořické kopce, 4 km from Blansko and on the border of the Moravian Karst.

Landscape and History

The Vápno area contains Tertiary shell limestone with numerous fossils. Adits from former iron ore mining are still visible on the western slopes of Spešov. The landscape thus preserves both geological traces and visible evidence of its former use.

Culture and History

The Spešov observation tower combines traditions of carpentry and metalworking with municipal symbols and historical elements. It also invites visitors to make a short stop and enjoy views of a varied and undulating landscape. Local history also includes the chapel in Spešov, which was built in 1856 to commemorate the averting of a cholera epidemic.

Nature

The Moravian Karst is one of the most important karst regions in Central Europe. More than 1,100 caves are known throughout the area, five of which are open to the public. In the Punkva Caves, visitors can take a boat trip on the underground Punkva River, combined with a tour of the bottom of the Macocha Gorge.

The educational trail “In the Footsteps of Old Fruit Trees” introduces visitors to some of the most common local fruit tree species.

Leisure

Local facilities in Spešov include a swimming pool, a volleyball court, a beach volleyball court and a children's corner. Spešov outdoor swimming pool is open in June from Monday to Friday from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. and on Saturdays and Sundays from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.; in July and August, it is open daily from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
