To this day, 13 reinforced concrete bunkers in Podivice commemorate the period when the area was a military training ground in 1941.

History and culture

In front of the church stands the sandstone statue of Saint Anne, which is integrated into its enclosure. Depicted are Saint Anne, the Virgin Mary and an open book.

At the “Na Valech” site below Dudín, in the forests, there are remains of an old fortified settlement, as indicated by archaeological excavations.

The Ferdinandsko ensemble is significant from an urban-planning, architectural and cultural-historical perspective. The historic Baroque ensemble of buildings forming the Ferdinandsko hunting lodge, dating from 1757, also includes a forester’s house, a gamekeeper’s lodge, a spring and former stables.

The surroundings of Podivice are home to the Hrádek ruins, Kuchlov ruins, Předina mountain, Chlum mountain, the Pomník obětem 1. světové války monument and Horka mountain. The “Podivice” hill is located in the immediate vicinity of Podivice. The Pomník obětem 1. a 2. světové války monument is also located in the wider regional surroundings of Podivice.

Landscape and routes

At 551 metres, Stříbrná is the highest point in Podivice. From Stříbrná, the view extends across large parts of Moravia, north to Praděd and south to Pálava.

Cycle route 5041 connects Zelená Hora, Podivice and Sněhotice over a distance of 9.5 km.

Since 1977, the former forest area of Podivice has been incorporated into the Březina military training area.
