Olšany: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Olšany is situated in hilly terrain on the southern edge of the Drahanská vrchovina at an elevation of about 420 metres and is surrounded by extensive forests. Small and larger, almost regular stone spheres are still visible in the wall of the local quarry.

Nature and Trails

The access road from Habrovany ends in Olšany; beyond it, only forest tracks continue. Olšany’s location offers countless opportunities for peaceful walks, cycling tours, horseback riding and, in winter, cross-country skiing.

The educational trail “Studánková naučná stezka” connects several springs along the route between Olšany and Vítovice via Červený vrch. It has nine stops with information boards, begins in the village square of Olšany and ends at a pond in Rousínov-Vítovice.

Cycling Connections and Transport Links

A route in the local cycling network runs through Olšany. It connects to regional cycle route B (Hradec Králové–Břeclav), which passes through Slavkov, and subsequently to the long-distance cycling route “Jantarová stezka”. Olšany is connected to the surrounding area by bus services.

The Chapel of Saint John the Baptist in Olšany was built in 1886. In summer 1992, the film “Dědictví aneb Kurvahošigutntág”, starring Bolek Polívka, was filmed in Olšany. The Olšany Cultural Centre has a cultural hall with a stage for balls, theatre performances, local celebrations and tastings.
