Bohaté Málkovice: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The Větrník hill rises west of Bohaté Málkovice. From there, views open southwards to the Pálava Hills, northwards to Kopeček near Olomouc and eastwards to Hostýn. A late Baroque wayside shrine also stands on a hill to the west. The rendered, masonry wayside shrine has a square floor plan and a smooth four-sided base that tapers slightly towards the middle of the shaft. A narrow cornice separates the lantern from the shaft; rectangular niches with depictions of saints divide the lantern on each side. It is topped by a gabled roof covered with fired clay tiles and crowned by a small Latin cross.

Culture and History

The Zvonice na návsi stands in the village square and is a local cultural and historical landmark. Bohaté Málkovice has been documented in written records or historical sources since 1307. The settlement was officially renamed from Německé to Bohaté in 1920; as early as 1391, the entire village belonged to the Augustinian monastery.

The history of the village has always been closely linked to agriculture: Bohaté Málkovice was always a purely agricultural settlement with highly fertile soils and prosperous farmers. The village’s three known historical seals document this agricultural character. Other monuments in the village include the Svatý kříž near the municipal office, which was restored in 2008, and the Stoletý kříž on the boundary between Bohaté Málkovice and the municipality of Kojátky.

Nature

In the immediate surroundings of Bohaté Málkovice, Bařisko includes a pond, a pool area and a wetland. Větrníky, a protected natural area, is also located near the village. The protected area preserves sub-Pannonian steppe grasslands as well as semi-natural dry grasslands and shrub communities on calcareous subsoil. Větrníky features species-rich xerothermic vegetation with numerous rare and endangered Pontic-Pannonian species.

The protected Větrníky area also preserves habitats of rare and endangered animal species, as well as dry grassland and xerophilous shrub habitats.
