The Church of St. James the Greater in Omice is a Romanesque building constructed around the 12th century or, at the latest, at the beginning of the 13th century. As an immovable cultural monument, it is registered under registration number 29182/7-858.

Culture

The archaeological remains of the medieval fortress of Omice include stone foundation walls more than one metre thick. Omice is also home to the adult folklore ensemble Folklorní soubor Omičan.

The ruins of Tempelštejn and the ruins of Rabštejn are located in the wider regional surroundings of Omice.

The hill Šibeník and the hill Baba [Popůvky u Brna] are located in the immediate vicinity of Omice. The Helenčina studánka spring is located nearby. The mountain Zlobica is also located in the wider regional surroundings of Omice.

Trails and History

Omice railway station provides step-free access to all platforms; in accordance with ČSN 73 4959, the platforms have a standard height of 550 mm above the top of the rail. A yellow-marked hiking trail begins at the station and leads via the summit of Tmavý žlíbek and past Bučín towards Rosice.

The Bobrava Nature Park is located in the cadastral area of Omice. The Bučín educational trail near Omice leads through the Bobrava Nature Park and the Bučín forest area, where deciduous forests with oak, beech and hornbeam trees predominate. The educational trail also provides information about the remains of an old inn on the country road, which was burned down during the Thirty Years' War, as well as about a medieval trade route that led through the forests from Brno to Ivančice.

The Brno Zoo is located near Omice. The Chapel of St. Peter and St. Paul is also located nearby.
