Wine

The Stará Hora wine trail has been accessible year-round in the vineyards of the Marcinčák winery in Novosedly since April 2005. It is 3.5 kilometres long and has 11 information boards. The trail is also part of the 37-kilometre Stará Hora cycling circuit.

Visitors can tour the Marcinčák winery in Novosedly and see how wine is made there. The winery offers tastings of its wines year-round.

At Novosedelské sklepy open, visitors can walk through open wine cellars where local winemakers offer their wines for tasting. Víno Ritter offers guided wine tastings for groups of five or more; the Víno Ritter wine cellar in Novosedly is open to visitors during the main season.

Culture

The village square in Novosedly is home to a church dedicated to Saint Ulrich, the patron saint of those who suffer and are ill. Romanesque windows can be seen in the attic; Romanesque ashlar blocks have been preserved in the walls. The Church of Saint Ulrich is one of the few original Romanesque church buildings in the Břeclav District.

The “U starého lomu” Museum displays a reconstructed vz. 37 light fortification object from the Czechoslovak fortification system of 1935 to 1938. It is open during the tourist season; exact opening hours should be requested by telephone or via the specified website.

Nature

Slanisko Novosedly is the last more substantial site in the Czech Republic where the endangered narrow-leaved moor-grass (Heleochloa schoenoides) is found.

The area provides a habitat for European tree frogs (Hyla arborea), fire-bellied toads (Bombina bombina), and breeding birds such as Savi’s warblers (Locustella luscinioides) and great reed warblers (Acrocephalus arundinaceus).

Festivals

During the Krojované hody, the costumed procession goes to the church for Mass and the blessing of the celebrations. The Krojované hody in Novosedly usually take place on the second Sunday in August.

The regular wine harvest festival in Novosedly was resumed in 2003. A procession visits wine cellars and wine taverns and renews the right to serve wine.

Novosedelské sklepy open took place on 17 June and 16 September in 2023; the regular dates are the third weekend in June and the third weekend in September.
