Mikulovice: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Mikulovice combines a nature-scientifically remarkable wetland with sacred architectural history, vernacular architecture, and special experiences in the village.

Nature

Mikulovické jezero is a natural monument that protects an aquatic and wetland habitat with a plant community shaped by local salinization and rare in this part of Moravia. Among others, fire-bellied toads, European tree frogs, and green toads reproduce in the area. Marsh harriers, moorhens, snipes, and great reed warblers have also been observed at Mikulovické jezero.

Culture and History

The Church of St. Peter and Paul in Mikulovice is a Late Romanesque church dating from the third quarter of the 13th century. The apse, nave, and portal have been preserved; around 1766, the church was remodeled in the Baroque style.

The stone wayside shrine Boží muka in Mikulovice is an impressive example of vernacular architecture from the second quarter of the 19th century. East of the rectory stands an agricultural building that is an integral part of an urban-planning, architectural, and art-historically valuable complex. The attractions in Mikulovice also include a statue of Saint Florian. The granary sýpka is a listed immovable cultural monument.

The Moravian Beekeeping Educational Trail in Mikulovice features a real beehive, where the activity of the bee colony can be observed through glass.
