Kadov: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Kadov lies in a flat valley of the Kadovský potok and in a protected location. Above the village rises Kadovký kopec, also known as Kadovská hora, at 367 m above sea level. Near Kadov lies Kadovská skála, a former limestone quarry with a natural character, which was designated a natural monument with effect from 1 June 2022. Numerous rare plants grow at Kadovská skála.

Nature

The landscape thus combines the village’s protected valley location with prominent elevations and a special natural monument nearby. Kadovský kopec lies above Kadov, while Kadovská skála, as a former limestone quarry, retains its own geological and landscape character.

Culture

Kadov was first mentioned in written records in 1235. From 1230 to 1400, the parish was under the patronage of the Dubravnik convent. An important building in the village is the Church of Saints Philip and James. It has an Early Gothic presbytery with a Late Gothic reconstruction, as well as a nave and a tower dating from the end of the 15th century. Since 1822, the church has been dedicated to these two saints; in the same year, it was expanded to include the Chapel of Saint Margaret.

Smaller monuments also shape the villagescape. The village square is home to a statue of Saint John of Nepomuk dated 1738, a high-quality example of High Baroque sculpture. In front of the church stands a Baroque gate with statues. The cemetery gate contains a Pietà dated 1734, as well as statues of Saint Roch, Saint Sebastian and Saint Rosalia.

On the outskirts of the village, a small sacred structure of the Boží muka type without a lantern has been preserved. It dates from the late 16th century, is recorded without a lantern and serves as a distinctive landmark.

Festivals and Dates

The religious and local festival calendar includes a pilgrimage celebration on the Sunday after the feast of Saints Philip and James, around 3 May. The hody festival is also scheduled for the Sunday around the feast day of Saint Bartholomew, approximately on 24 August.

The Bartolomějské hody was scheduled to take place in Kadov on 22 August 2026 at 3:00 p.m. A Stations of the Cross procession to the Virgin Mary was scheduled for Sunday, 22 March 2026, with the meeting point at 3:00 p.m. at the church in Kadov.

Cycling

Kadov was one of eight participating municipalities in the Miroslavskem cycling tour held in 2025. During this cycling tour, the station in Kadov was located at the bus stop.
