The Chapel of Saints Cyril and Methodius is a landmark of Medlice and has been extensively reconstructed. Medlice lies in the valley of the Přeskačský potok stream. There are two small ponds south of Medlice. One of these ponds has been converted into a natural swimming area; the necessary facilities have been built on its shore.

History

Medlice is documented in records from 1273 to 1285, which mention Ludvík z Medlic. Graves of the Únětice culture dating from around the 17th century BC were found in fields near the road to Horní Kounice. Graves of French soldiers dating from 1805 to 1809 have also been found; part of the French troops marched from Přeskače through Medlice to Horní Kounice.

Culture

A monument to the victims of the First and Second World Wars stands in Medlice on the village square opposite the municipal office.

Traditional Customs

Traditional customs in Medlice include a procession on the Sunday before Easter, during which girls carry a Smrtolka decorated with colourful ribbons through the village. Also preserved are a traditional masked carnival procession through the village and a subsequent evening celebration. There is also a pilgrimage in honour of Saints Cyril and Methodius.
