Křídlůvky: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Křídlůvky has a long-standing winemaking tradition. The traditional Matějský wine tasting usually presents more than 200 wine samples from Křídlůvky and the surrounding area.

History and sacred sites

Křídlůvky was first mentioned in writing in 1255. Another historical discovery dates from February 1957: two graves belonging to the Tumulus culture were uncovered during the construction of agricultural facilities.

The Chapel of Saints Cyril and Methodius in Křídlůvky was built in 1845 using funds collected from the village's residents. Near the chapel, a smaller-than-life-size statue of Saint Anthony holding the Christ Child in his arms stands at a wayside shrine. The statue of Saint Anthony at the wayside shrine is a sculpture from the early 19th century that was placed there secondarily.

Water and landscape

The Dyje River flows south of Křídlůvky and is suitable for swimming, tourist activities and fishing. The irrigation canal in the village was used for rice cultivation.

The surrounding area of Křídlůvky includes the Na Kopci hill [Slup-Oleksovičky], the Nad Sklepy hill [Slup], the Ve Vinohradech hill [Hrádek u Znojma] and the Petrovické hony hill [Velký Karlov].

Wine and traditions

Martinské hody is an enduring costumed tradition in Křídlůvky. After a 15-year interruption, it is now held in traditional local costumes of its own.

Since 1992, local boys of preschool and school age have maintained the tradition of Hrkání from Maundy Thursday to Holy Saturday, walking through the village with carts and rattles.
