Ivaň: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Ivaň is situated on a river terrace between the Jihlava and Svratka rivers in the Dyjsko-svratecký úval. Remnants of floodplain forests have been preserved. In the cadastral area of Ivaň, the Jihlava and Svratka rivers converge before reaching the Věstonická nádrž reservoir. The area's bodies of water include wetlands, marshes and several oxbow lakes along the rivers and at their confluence.

Nature

The Dolní mušovský luh nature monument covers 48.6 hectares in the cadastral area of Ivaň. Betlém is also protected as a nature monument: the 10.87-hectare wetland was created on the site of a former sand and gravel quarry. Part of the Věstonická nádrž reservoir extends into the cadastral area of Ivaň. The reservoir is part of the Natura 2000 bird protection area Ptačí oblast Střední nádrž Vodního díla Nové Mlýny and is a wintering area for white-fronted geese, bean geese and white-tailed eagles.

The Rybník Vrkoč pond is located near Ivaň. It covers 156.1 hectares and has approximately 5 kilometres of embankments. The easiest access to the water is via the road from Ivaň to Pasohlávky, near the guesthouse of the same name; from there, you can reach its main embankment. The pond has been drained for fishing every year for several years on the last weekend of October.

Culture

The Church of St Bartholomew in Ivaň dates from 1791 and was built on the foundations of an original chapel from 1724. It was substantially expanded in 1811, and its tower was raised in 1842.

Traditions

Vinařský dvůr na faře includes a restored wine cellar that is over 200 years old. Traditional events in Ivaň include the Bartolomějské hody festival in August, a wine tasting at Easter and the Staré hody festival in October. In recent years, the Staré hody festival has been organised by women.

Getting Around

The Brno–Vienna cycling route runs through Ivaň. It mostly follows quiet roads away from the main roads and has no steep climbs.
