An unusual local feature characterizes Hýsly: the center is home to a unique miniature of the solar system. Hýsly lies in the valley of the Moštěnka beneath the southwestern foothills of the Chřiby; the miniature includes the world’s smallest sundials.

Location

The Stromová kaple offers a magnificent view of the peaks of the Chřiby. The castle park is also home to a common ash designated as a memorial tree.

Local Details

The sundials in Hýsly are 14 × 20 meters in size and designed to display astronomical time in the municipality of Hýsly. The miniature includes the world’s smallest sundials, measuring 9 × 9 mm.

Culture

Saint Procopius is the patron saint of Hýsly. The Chapel of St. Procopius was built in 1936. A column with a statue of Saint John of Nepomuk dates from 1706 and commemorates a major flood. Zámek Hýsly presents a different picture: the castle is closed for the long term and is not in use.
