Culture and History
The Church of St. Wolfgang in Hnanice was solemnly consecrated on April 3, 1510; at the same time, nine altars were consecrated inside it. The site known as the Holy Stone in the vicinity of Hnanice was probably already used for ritual and cult purposes in prehistoric times.
In the Chapel of St. Wolfgang in Hnanice, two large horseshoes hang on sturdy chains above a well surrounded by a stone enclosure. Another characteristic feature of the village is the Sklepní ulička in Hnanice: it is one of the most original rows of wine cellars in the Znojmo wine-growing region.
Hiking and Landscape
The Hnanice–Holy Stone circular trail begins and ends at the Church of St. Wolfgang in Hnanice, is approximately 4.5 km long, and is classified as easy. The Devět mlýnů circular trail also begins and ends at the Church of St. Wolfgang in Hnanice; it is approximately 6.5 km long.
The Hnanice–Šobes hiking trail begins at the Vinice Hotel in Hnanice and is classified as moderate. It passes vineyards, thermophilic oak forests, the Dyje River, rocky sections, and heathland. Znovín Walking comprises shorter circular trails of 6 to 12 km in the vicinity of Šatov, Hnanice, and Havraníky; they begin at the Happy Star Hotel in Hnanice.
Wine and Cycling Route
The Vinařství Špetíci winery in Hnanice offers wine by the glass and guided tastings by prior arrangement. The Thayatal National Park cycling route passes through Hnanice along its cross-border section.
