Želešice can be explored through its cultural monuments, the history of the Victoria nursery and the Bobrava Nature Park.

Culture and history

The Městský dům at 24. dubna 76 in Želešice is protected as an immovable cultural monument. The Baroque building, dating from the second quarter of the 18th century, has an arcaded passage and illustrates the transition between a rural and an urban house.

The Church of the Immaculate Conception of the Virgin Mary in Želešice is also protected as a cultural monument of the Czech Republic. A documented programme of Noc kostelů at the church included a tower tour and a view of Želešice in the evening.

Park and fruit growing

The Victoria nursery in Želešice was a fruit tree nursery and was founded by Friedrich Wannieck in 1877. The landscape sculpture “Mezi zemí a nebem” was created in 1974–1975 by the sculptor Jan Šimek as part of the park design. It stands on a grassy roundel in the park of the former Victoria nursery site in Želešice.

Šlechtitelská stanice Želešice also offers fruit for sale, including cherries, apricots, peaches and apples. The station also sells seeds for fodder plants, medicinal plants and grass mixtures.

Nature

The Bobrava flows through Želešice. Its lower valley is protected as the Bobrava Nature Park. The southern section of the educational trail through the Bobrava Nature Park runs along forest paths through the valley; the Bobrava stream and information boards accompany the route.

The highest point of Želešický hájek offers a wide view of the surrounding landscape. A lime tree in Želešice was declared a memorial tree in 2014.
