Chudčice: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Above Chudčice lies a Stations of the Cross with fourteen Neoclassical masonry stations. Its chapels were built according to a design by the architect Eduard Svoboda, who was born in Chudčice; the Chudčice Calvary has been protected as a monument since 1958.

Culture and History

The Chapel of the Finding of the Holy Cross is considered an important local monument in Chudčice. A modern chapel of this name was built in 1996 next to the Vrzalovy horky woodland. The Tři kříže pilgrimage site was established on the site of the Chapel of the Holy Cross, which was demolished in 1784; three stone crosses were erected there in its place.

Landscape

Chudčice lies on the edge of the Podkomorské lesy Nature Park. The landscape of the Chudčická pahorkatina is characterised by a succession of basin-like valleys, broad flat ridges and isolated hills, mostly consisting of conglomerate, which are referred to as “horky”. The Kuřimka stream runs along the eastern boundary of the cadastral area of Chudčice.

Paths and Viewpoints

Cycle route 5231, “In the Footsteps of Defunct Railways”, runs through Chudčice between Moravské Knínice and Veverská Bítýška. Visible remains of the former railway line from Kuřim to Veverská Bítýška have been preserved in Chudčice.

The Okno viewpoint is part of the Na Kamínkách orchard in Chudčice. From the Okno viewpoint, there are views of Veveří Castle, Chudčice and Veverská Bítýška.

Geographical Context

The ruins of Tempelštejn lie in the wider regional vicinity of Chudčice. The Brno Zoo, Zlobica Hill, Paní hora Hill, Babí Lom Hill and Střela Hill are located in the vicinity of Chudčice. Lužánky Park and sady Osvobození Park are also located in the vicinity of Chudčice.
