Strašice: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

On the village square in Strašice stands the Chapel of Our Lady of Sorrows among mature lime trees; it rings at noon and in the evening. Below Strašice flows the Novosedelský potok, also called the Kolčava. Strašice is served regularly by bus.

Culture

A monument to those who fell in the First World War stands on the village square. Several houses in the rural folk architecture of the 19th century have been preserved in Strašice. A chapel with a statue of Saint John of Nepomuk is maintained on the bridge over the Kolčava.

The restored wayside shrine now stands in a slightly different location because the original field monument was finally demolished in the 1950s due to the widening of an intersection. The wayside shrine in Strašice was restored in 2024 based on a surviving picture by an unknown painter; it dates from 1676.

A chapel dating from 1831 stands on the village square in Škůdra. A chapel stands on the hill in Škůdra, about 300 metres north of the village square. According to legend, the ancient chapel was probably built in memory of Swedish soldiers who died during the invasion of the Prácheň region in 1645.

Nature

The former mills on the Kolčava have not milled grain for several decades and have been converted into recreational properties. The Strašice lime tree is a memorial tree by a forester’s lodge below the forest on the southern slope of Bloudím hill.

Activities

A tourist cycling route runs through Strašice. Mushroom picking is possible in Strašice.

A campsite with a swimming pool was established near Strašice in a beautiful natural setting on the Kolčava. A motorcycle gathering is held every July on the grounds of the Kolčava swimming pool and campsite. At the Kolčava site, the Na Šumavě inn offers refreshments.
