Staré Hobzí: Apartments and Holiday Homes

Staré Hobzí combines ecclesiastical architectural heritage, castle history, and the landscape along the Dyje River. Historical buildings, mill complexes, art, and riverside paths come together to create a diverse picture of the village.

Culture and History

At the eastern edge of Staré Hobzí, on the road to Jemnice, stands the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary. It preserves architectural elements from the Early Gothic, High Gothic, Late Gothic, Early Baroque, and Neoclassical periods and documents the development of ecclesiastical architecture in the region from the 13th to the 18th century.

The castle in Staré Hobzí stands on the site of a former fortress. It includes the Baroque Chapel of Saint Thomas; below the castle stands a statue of the Immaculate Virgin Mary. There is also a statue of Saint Margaret next to the church in Staré Hobzí.

Along the Dyje

Loucký Mill lies on the left bank of the Dyje River on the road from Staré Hobzí to Slavonice, northwest of the river bridge. It includes a stone millrace and a weir on the Dyje: the weir directs water into the channel, which carries it to the mill building and then back into the riverbed. On a cycling tour between Dačice and Staré Hobzí, historical watermills can be discovered along the Moravská Dyje, including this mill site.

West of Staré Hobzí, the Kameny přání lie on the banks of the Dyje. The sculpture, consisting of seven glacial erratics, was created by Lubo Kristek and is part of Kristkova podyjská glyptotéka.

Paths and Discoveries

The Vydří stezka trail runs along the Dyje between Dačice and Staré Hobzí. Guided walks are offered on this section.

Nature

Mutenská obora is a regionally significant complex of old, near-natural deciduous forests with species-rich ground flora and diverse bird and insect life.
