The Graselova Trail begins in the village square by the Church of Saint John the Baptist, built in 1440, which defines the centre of Český Rudolec. It is marked with a yellow circle framed by a white letter “G”. Near Radíkov, its circular route joins a red-marked hiking trail and leads back to Český Rudolec. In the vicinity of Český Rudolec, visible traces of historical silver mining have been preserved near Kutiště along the Graselova Trail.
Nature
In the vicinity of Český Rudolec, Skalka, also called Kofrštán or Měděný vrch, is a rocky granite summit at an elevation of 679.3 metres. On its northern side, rock walls rise 10 to 15 metres high. In the vicinity of Český Rudolec, Filipovy kameny form a granite rock formation approximately 100 metres long. The Hornoradíkovský stream disappears beneath it, and there are plunge pools between the large boulders.
Culture
Malá Hluboká is a protected immovable cultural monument. After the fire of 1860, the complex acquired its present romantic appearance in the Tudor Gothic Revival style through reconstruction. The complex includes an English park, whose landscaping began as early as the end of the 17th century. The Malá Hluboká orangery was used to grow exotic fruit; one of its special features was the cultivation of pineapples. At Malá Hluboká, visitors can purchase tickets for guided tours of the château at the tourist centre.
In the vicinity of Český Rudolec lies the fully preserved small wooden water mill Vodní pila Peníkov, which is protected as an immovable cultural monument. It can be reached after approximately 40 minutes on foot via the Graselova Trail or the blue-marked hiking trail. In the vicinity of Český Rudolec, guided tours and demonstrations of sawing are offered at Vodní pila Peníkov by the beautification association Zkrášlovací spolek Rudolecko. The Chapel of the Holy Cross can be seen on the Český Rudolec–Slavonice section shortly after leaving Český Rudolec.
History
Beer was already brewed at the present site of Pivovar Grasel in 1539; the brewing tradition continued until 1897, and in 2015 the Zámecký pivovar Český Rudolec was newly established from the ruins. The Pivovar Grasel brewery in Český Rudolec invites visitors to taste its own beers.
