Smilovy Hory: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

In the centre of Smilovy Hory stands the Church of the Sending of the Holy Apostles. Originally, it was a Gothic church dating from the 14th century; in 1677, it was remodelled in the Baroque style. Between 1810 and 1812, it was redesigned in the Empire style, before the tower was added in 1903. This tower is a prominent landmark visible from far away.

Culture and village character

A Baroque chapel with a square ground plan, a rounded end and a shingle-covered conical roof stands on the village square. It is an urban-design element of the village square. At the same time, the chapel features a pyramid roof with a belfry sitting on top. It was built at the end of the 18th century, probably towards the end of this period.

Velký Ježov is also one of the cultural and historical points of interest in the surrounding area: the chapel there was restored in a first phase from September to November 2017 as part of a programme supporting the restoration of cultural monuments.

Natural environment

The north-eastern part of the administrative area of Smilovy Hory contains a regional biocorridor and a regional biocentre. In the area of Smilovy Hory, forests and bodies of water are considered valuable natural areas.

Hiking trails and routes

A green-marked hiking trail from Mladá Vožice to Načeradec passes through Smilovy Hory. The “Na konci světa” route runs via Běleč and Smilovy Hory and along the Blatnických rybníků ponds to Radostovice.
