Podolí I: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The Podolský Bridge was built between 1938 and 1943. Its main arch is 150 metres long. A permanent photo exhibition at the Podolí I Museum documents the construction of the Podolský Bridge.

Culture and History

The Podolí I Museum can be visited by prior arrangement with the staff of the municipal office.

The Podolský Bridge is known as the „Gateway to Heaven“ and received awards at international competitions in Paris and Liège. An old trade route from Bavaria to Galicia crossed the Podolsko ferry. The ferry was first mentioned in writing in 1493; the route ran there until the chain bridge was built in 1848.

Pilgrimage and Commemoration

The Chapel of Panny Marie Královny, located in Podolí, was built by settlers in 1970. A pilgrimage takes place there in Podolí every year on the last Sunday in May.

On the Temešvár side of the Podolský Bridge, an information board was replaced on 8 May 2014. It provides information about the events in Podolsko at the end of the Second World War. A small commemorative ceremony is also held there every year on 8 May.

The „Podolská šlápota“ event took place in Podolí in 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2022, 2024, 2025 and 2026.

Hrad Zvíkov Castle and the Obora, Ulčí vrch, Zvíkovec and Chlum mountains are located in the vicinity of Podolí. The Church of Svatý Jan is located in the immediate vicinity of Podolí.
