Písecká Smoleč: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

The hillfort of Písecká Smoleč is situated on a prominent headland formed by the last meander of the Židova strouha. Its fortifications date from the Hallstatt period; the enclosed hillfort complex consists of two parts.

Culture and History

The first written mention of Písecká Smoleč dates from 1379. Before 1975, coins of unknown age and vessel fragments were found in the courtyard of house no. 12 and in the adjacent garden.

On 15 May 2026, a statue of Saint John of Nepomuk was installed in the chapel in Písecká Smoleč. The reconstructed Chapel of Saint Adalbert in Písecká Smoleč contains a memorial plaque with the names of twelve local residents inscribed in gold letters who did not return home from the First World War.

The village is also documented as a filming location: The 1963 film Einstein kontra Babinský was filmed, among other places, at the fire station on the village square of Písecká Smoleč.

Trails and Landscape

Písecká Smoleč lies on the Sedláčkova stezka route. The mountains Obora, Ulčí vrch, Zdoba and Zvíkovec are located in the surroundings of the village. The stone circle below Tábor has a diameter of 8 metres.

In 2006, the road from Slabčice to Písecká Smoleč was repaired.
