Vojníkov tells the story of a medieval route to Zvíkov Castle and also preserves several local traditions. A road from Písek to Zvíkov Castle that ran through Vojníkov in the Middle Ages continued the Golden Trail.

Culture and village life

Pilgrimages and church fairs are traditions preserved in Vojníkov. Burning witches and putting up the maypole are also among the town's traditional customs.

The village chapel of Vojníkov features Empire-style elements and is crowned by a prismatic bell turret. The chapel dates back to 1861. A barn in Vojníkov dates from the 19th century.

Otava and nature

About 1 km from Vojníkov, the Otava offers an opportunity for swimming. Vojníkov (Vrcovice) is designated as a recommended starting or finishing point for school water courses on the Otava; transport of boating equipment is free of charge.

The Dubná natural monument is a rocky slope above the right bank of the Otava, located about 1.5 km from Držov.

Routes and connections

Bus route 360823 runs along the Písek–Záhoří–Vrcovice–Vojníkov–Louka route. Cycle route 1149 runs through the cadastral area of Vojníkov. An alternative return route of the Sedláčkova Trail to Písek also runs through Vojníkov and reconnects with the Otava valley.
