Boudy: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The Baroque Budský dvůr country estate dominates the southern part of Boudy and still retains remnants of its original exterior decoration. The authorities from Písek built it in 1720.

History

Boudy was established around 1640–1650 on land cleared from the royal forests, which Charles IV donated to the royal city of Písek in 1348 and which remained in the city’s possession until 1948.

About 0.5 km from the village of the same name, only the main residential and farm building and part of the farm wing with a granary and stables remain of the Boudy farmyard. The farm building east of the actual courtyard stands on the site of the former sheepfold. The Budský dvůr grounds also once housed a potash works.

Mikoláš Aleš is also associated with the estate: he met his future wife Marina at Budský dvůr, and an original drawing by Mikoláš Aleš has been preserved on one of the walls of Budský dvůr.

Archaeology

The prehistoric Hrad hillfort near Čimelice dates from 600–450 BC. The site consists of two rings of dry-stone walls and an inner wall that regularly enclose the summit of the distinctive hill. Hrad near Čimelice is one of the best-documented Hallstatt-period hillforts. Archaeological excavations suggest that Hrad may have served as a meeting place for special events, celebrations and other ceremonies.

Nature and Trails

The Alšova stezka trail runs between Mirotice and Čimelice and is suitable for hiking and mountain biking. At individual stops along the Alšova stezka, the region’s historical, natural and archaeological sights are explained. The Budský dvůr in Boudy is one of the stops featured along the Alšova stezka.

Malý Kosatín is a protected natural monument with a species-rich wet meadow and a meadow spring containing numerous occurrences of specially protected plant species.
