The Mirovicka Museum is located in Pohoří, a district of the municipality of Mišovice. It comprises a total of 10 exhibition sections: 8 are located in the main building, and 2 in a former parish barn near the museum building.

Culture and History

One section of the museum is dedicated to geology, mining, mineralogy and living nature. It provides basic information about the geological structure of the region and its immediate surroundings, describes mining activities in various parts of Mirovicka, and covers the Celts' gold panning at Skalica as the oldest mining activity in the region.

In Pohoří stands the Church of St. Peter and St. Paul, which dates from the end of the 13th century and is already mentioned in 1369. It is surrounded by a disused cemetery enclosed by a cemetery wall with an entrance on the western side. The church, cemetery and wall together form a closed ensemble. The complex is located in the eastern part of Pohoří on a slight elevation and is a significant urban-planning element within the built-up area of the village. In front of the western cemetery wall, south of the cemetery entrance, stands a statue of Saint John of Nepomuk.

On Hrad Hill, a few kilometres southeast of Pohoří, are the ruins of a Late Hallstatt-period hillfort from the time of Celtic settlement, which in Bohemia is associated with the Boii tribe. In the forest on Malý Kosatín Hill, about 1 km south of the Hrad hillfort, lie several Late Hallstatt-period burial mounds, in which residents of the aforementioned hillfort were presumably buried.
