Květov: Apartments and Holiday Homes

On the northern side of Květov village square stands a large farmyard with a massive barn. After the fire of 1904, a remarkable ensemble of three farmsteads was created at the beginning of the 20th century: the façades combine the Neo-Renaissance style with elements of Czech rural Baroque. The farmsteads were built by master bricklayer František Luza.

Cultural and Architectural History

The Tyrolský dům hunting lodge was built in 1810/11 in the so-called Alpine style, which is considered an exceptional architectural style in the Czech Republic. At Tyrolský dům, the remaining walls are constructed as log walls and clad with shingles with rounded tips. A wooden gallery completely surrounds the building and is accessible via an external wooden staircase.

The Chapel of St. Hubert is a small log building with a rectangular floor plan, a hip roof covered with shingles, and a small bell turret. Hrad Zvíkov Castle is also located in the vicinity of Květov. The Church of Svatý Jan is located near Květov and therefore also in its vicinity. The historic site Lety u Písku, the Memorial to the Holocaust of Roma and Sinti in Bohemia, is also located in the vicinity of Květov.

Nature and Surroundings

The Rukávečská Game Reserve was first placed under protection on 6 August 1929. It protects a fragment of original acid-loving woodrush beech forests. Chlum Mountain and Obora Mountain are located near Květov. Zvíkovec Mountain and Jenšovice Mountain are also located in the surrounding area.

Routes

Section 25 of the Vltava Run runs from Květov to Kostelec nad Vltavou. The Velký Písecký okruh is a mountain-biking route through the Písek region.
