Jickovice: Holiday Apartments and Houses
Jickovice is located near the Orlík Reservoir, on the opposite bank of which lies Zvíkov Castle.
Water and Trails
The Jickovický Stream flows through Jickovice and joins the Orlík Reservoir south of the village; in its lower course, it is also called the Sobědražský Stream. Cycle Route 1155 also passes through the village. It runs from Orlík nad Vltavou to Kučeř and connects Route 31 with Cycle Route 1154.
Culture and History
The Chapel of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary in Jickovice was built in 1883–1884 and consecrated in 1890. The pilgrimage in Jickovice takes place every year on the Sunday following 15 August.
Outside Jickovice stands the Baroque Chapel of the Virgin Mary on the right-hand side of the road toward Strážka. The Baroque Chapel of the Virgin Mary in Jickovice dates from the 18th century.
Nature
Bachmač is a transitional to raised bog forest, mosaically connected with bog forest communities and home to the yellow loosestrife Lysimachia thyrsiflora. The Jickovické lípy are a protected group of trees, first placed under protection on 3 October 2008.
Two small-leaved lime trees (Tilia cordata) stand on the southwestern edge of Jickovice toward Varta, with a small chapel between them.
Trails and Viewpoints
The Varta viewpoint is located a few metres from the red-marked hiking trail at Varta near Jickovice. It stands on a rock above the Orlík Reservoir and offers a view of Zvíkov Castle on the opposite bank.
The “Kde domov můj” cycling tour continues via Jickovice to the settlement of Varta, with its viewpoint overlooking Zvíkov.
