Dobev: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Dobev is home to the Church of St. Brikcí, a unique example of High Medieval stone masonry. It was probably originally built only in the late 14th century as the private chapel of the local stronghold. In 1881, it was given its present form at the expense of Jan Adam of Schwarzenberg. The nave of the Church of St. Brikcí in Stará Dobev is now decorated with late Baroque ornamental murals.

Culture and History

The Chapel of St. John of Nepomuk is located in the southern boundary wall and can be accessed from the south, from the road. The niche chapel of St. John of Nepomuk in the cemetery wall is designated as a cultural monument of Stará Dobev and dates from 1851. Its niche contains a smaller-than-life-size statue of the saint on a stone pedestal with a plinth; a low decorative wrought-iron grille closes the niche. The niche chapel of the Holy Trinity in the direction of Kestřany is also designated as a cultural monument of Stará Dobev. It stands at the junction of the road at the edge of the village, in the direction of Kestřany, and a field path leading towards Dobevský rybník; a yellow hiking trail passes by it. In the western part of Stará Dobev there is also road bridge No. 139-004, a stone two-arch bridge over the Brložský stream on the Písek–Strakonice road. The bridge and the associated cross have been protected as monuments since 3 May 1958.

Nature

The Stašov campsite is located in the municipality of Dobev, 2 km north of Dobev, amid forests on Stašov Pond. It offers overnight stays in guests' own tents and caravans, as well as surroundings suitable for swimming for children and adults.

On Site

The former school building in Stará Dobev currently (2024) houses the Dobev municipal office and the municipal library. Road II/139 from Písek to Strakonice runs through the municipality of Dobev; there is a bus connection between the two cities.
