Kostelec Nad Vltavou: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes
In Kostelec nad Vltavou, the Žďákovský most road bridge No. 19-028 crosses the Orlík Reservoir between Staré Sedlo and Kostelec nad Vltavou. It is a cultural monument, 540 metres long and 50 metres high.
Culture
The Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary was already mentioned as a parish church in 1341. Two Gothic frescoes dating from before 1350 have been preserved behind the altar. They depict the Dormition of the Virgin Mary and the Tree of Jesse.
The former hospital is now set up as an exhibition. Visitors can see how people lived here, as well as read about its history and the rules that the residents had to follow. The former hospital also houses the Municipal Museum.
In Zahrádka, the brick-built farmsteads date from the mid-19th century. The predominant appearance is Classical in style and is complemented by eclectic houses as well as more recent development with smallholders’ and cottagers’ houses. Zahrádka was also selected as a filming location for the film Strakonický dudák.

The Municipal Office of Kostelec nad Vltavou organizes Zíbrtův Kostelec annually together with the Historical Institute of the University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice.
Nature and Cycling
The protected area “Sobědražský prales” is located near Sobědraž.
The “Okolo Orlické přehrady II” cycle route includes Kostelec nad Vltavou in its course and passes through the village. It is 41.5 kilometres long and suitable for trekking bikes.
