Zvíkovské Podhradí: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Zvíkov Castle is located at the Orlík Reservoir, at the confluence of the Vltava and Otava rivers, on a rocky promontory about one kilometre from Zvíkovské Podhradí.

Culture

Self-guided tours without a guide are possible at Zvíkov Castle. The historic fabric includes the Chapel of Saint Wenceslas, which has been preserved in the architectural form it had in the 13th century. The Hlízová Tower is the oldest surviving structure in the Zvíkov castle grounds and was built around 1240.

The stone bridge in Zvíkovské Podhradí also tells the story of the town’s architectural history. It dates from the second half of the 18th century and bears the year 1777. The bridge crosses a deep neck ditch cut into the rock, has five arches and stands on high pillars; it features a niche chapel.

Nature

The mixed and coniferous forests around Zvíkovské Podhradí invite visitors to go hiking. For cyclists, cycle route No. 1149 ends in Zvíkov. The 150-kilometre Pootavská cycle route also runs from Modrava in the Šumava to its destination, Zvíkov.

Along the Otava and Vltava rivers, a new riverside trail provides information at twelve stations about the history, fauna and flora of the region. The Orlík–Zvíkovské Podhradí educational trail is approximately 30 kilometres long and has 15 information panels. It begins at Orlík Chateau and leads to Zvíkovské Podhradí; it can be divided into the Orlík–Nevězice and Nevězice–Zvíkovské Podhradí sections.

Leisure

The Zvíkovské Podhradí outdoor swimming pool has two children’s pools with heated water and a larger swimming pool for swimmers. During the season, regular boat services operate on the Orlík Reservoir to Zvíkov Castle and Orlík Chateau.
