Bernartice U Milevska: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

In the historic center of Bernartice stands the Church of St. Martin, with a preserved Romanesque tower and preserved parts of the nave. It already existed as a Romanesque church when the Bernartice parish was first documented in 1251. In the 14th century, it was built on the foundations of an older structure and later remodeled in the Baroque style. The square is also home to the Baroque rectory, formerly a Jesuit residence, and a stone fountain that was moved there in 1776 from the nearby Dobronice Castle.

The area around Bernartice u Milevska also contains historical and religious sites with various regional connections: Svatý Jan is a church in the surrounding area. In the wider region are Zvíkov Castle and the historical site of Lety u Písku – Memorial to the Holocaust of the Roma and Sinti in Bohemia.

Exhibitions and Events

Hravé peklo in the Hus Chapel in Bernartice is an exhibition about hell and fairy tales and can be visited all year round. Hravé peklo also features a museum exhibition about the production of pipe stems; this wood-turning craft was introduced in Bohemia specifically in Bernartice.

Bernartický sekáč is a scythe-mowing competition that reached its 13th edition with 31 participants.

Ulčí vrch is a mountain in the vicinity of Bernartice u Milevska. The surrounding area also includes Obora, Zvíkovec, and Chlum, each of which is a mountain.

Things to Do

A pilgrimage takes place every year in July at the Church of St. Rosalia. A regional cycling loop route passes through Bernartice and includes the Church of St. Martin and the Church of St. Rosalia.
