Borečnice: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

The history of Borečnice has been documented in writing since 1354. At that time, Jakub from Borečnice served as vice-castellan in Písek, where he administered the revenues. On 14 March 1405, Mikuláš, known as Volyňský and the then owner of the village, transferred Borečnice, together with two mills, to the hospital in Písek founded by the Knights of the Cross with the Red Star.

History and chapels

The village chapel in Borečnice is dedicated to the Immaculate Conception of the Virgin Mary. It was built in 1855 after the bell post previously in use had rotted.

Another sacred site is the Chapel of Our Lady of Lourdes. It was built from rubble stone above Tlučkův mlýn mill, modelled on the pilgrimage chapel in Lourdes, at the request of the grandmother of the local miller Kubricht, and consecrated in 1871. The Tlučkův, Sulanův mlýn mill belonging to Borečnice was first mentioned in writing in 1405. The former mill stood on the left bank of the Otava and was demolished in connection with the construction of the Orlík Reservoir. In 2012, the chapel was renovated by residents and holiday-home owners from Borečnice and consecrated again on 1 May 2012.

Routes and refreshments

The Sedláček Trail, renewed with a modified route since 2006, is 35 km long and designed as cycle route No. 1225 for shared pedestrian and bicycle traffic. The Sedláček Trail leads to Borečnice via cycle route 1158. Cycle route CT1158 also continues from Borečnice to Zlivice.

In Borečnice, Fešácká hospoda offers a place to stop for refreshments, with an outdoor area and a playground.

Nature

Typical hornbeam-oak forest communities are protected in the Žlíbky area.
