Holiday apartment in Dolní Novosedly: Nature, cycling route and village culture
Dolní Novosedly lies on the northern foothills of the Písek Mountains and combines an experience of the landscape with easily recognisable village details. Part of the Písek Mountains is protected as a nature park. At the same time, Dolní Novosedly is a suitable starting point for hikes and bike tours into the Písek Mountains.
Holiday apartment in Dolní Novosedly for active days
For bike tours, Cycling Route 2 provides a clear connection to the surrounding area. On its return journey to Písek, it passes through Dolní Novosedly; it is 34 km long and of medium difficulty. The route is suitable for mountain bikes and trekking bikes. The length of 34 kilometres provides a fixed framework for preparation. When planning, the medium difficulty rating and the choice between a mountain bike and a trekking bike can therefore be specifically considered in advance together with your desired pace and planned breaks for the particular cycling day. This allows the bike tour to be included in your stay as an independent activity without the village losing its rural character.
The marked yellow hiking trail also passes through Dolní Novosedly. Recreational fishing is available at Podhorák Pond. In addition to longer tours in the Písek Mountains, this offers quieter activities by the water and a direct opportunity to engage with the landscape.
Village green and South Bohemian farmhouse Baroque
There is a chapel on the village green of Dolní Novosedly. On its northeastern side, Farmstead No. 1 occupies a dominant position. The free-standing rural ensemble consists of single-storey buildings arranged in a horseshoe shape around an irregular courtyard. House No. 1 is a building in the typical South Bohemian farmhouse Baroque style, dating from 1800. Those interested in architecture will therefore find not just a single building here, but also a clearly recognisable spatial arrangement.
The cultural character of the village is also shaped by eight memorial crosses of different designs. Most of the memorial crosses in Dolní Novosedly date from the 19th century. Some probably served to mark road junctions. This combination of dates, variety of forms and uncertain original purpose particularly invites visitors to take a closer look while walking around.
A former inn with wall paintings
The former Kolářík inn stands in the centre of Dolní Novosedly by the road. It is decorated with wall paintings both inside and out. The former inn building is currently used for recreational purposes and is not open to the public. When visiting the village, it is therefore important to distinguish between the visible building and an interior that is freely accessible.
Getting around and a special event venue
