Smetanova Lhota: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Regularly arranged plots for agricultural farmsteads lie around Smetanova Lhota’s large elliptical village green. A community pond has been preserved on the green to this day; the small cottagers’ houses surrounding it date from the first half of the 18th century.

History and Architectural Heritage

An order founded Smetanova Lhota in the mid-13th century. The local surroundings include the village of Karlov to the southwest, with a hunting lodge and a naturally landscaped park in the valley of the Lomnice on the left bank of the river. About 500 metres northeast of Smetanova Lhota, on the road to Vrábsko, stands the Výklenková kaple Biskupů, a niche chapel probably built in the mid-19th century. Also northeast of Smetanova Lhota, at a bridge over the Skalice River, is the Výklenková kaple Kocábů, a niche chapel probably dating from the first half of the 19th century.

Landscape and Trails

In the broader regional context, the Čimelicko-Rakovicko area has been designated a landscape conservation area. Cycle Route 1158 runs through Smetanova Lhota; a blue-marked hiking trail also passes through the village.

Events and Sports

During the summer months, the local volunteer fire brigade organises two open-air cultural evenings called “Večery na návsi”. The club organises the “Memoriál Vladislava Panýrka” football tournament every year. There is a link to an online reservation system for Smetanova Lhota’s multi-purpose sports field.
