In and around Mirovice, sacred buildings, a Jewish cemetery and preserved traces of historical mining come together.

Culture

The Church of Saint Clement in Mirovice is originally Gothic and was later redesigned in the Baroque style. A large Schwarzenberg coat of arms is located on its gable.

The Marian column on Masaryk Square in Mirovice was erected in 1717. The stone flood bridge in Mirovice was declared a cultural monument at the end of 2018.

The Jewish cemetery near Mirovice was presumably established around 1680 in the cadastral area of Myslín. It lies in the valley behind the town on the eastern bank of the Skalice stream; around 240 gravestones have been preserved there.

The Mirovice Hussite Church hosts cultural and social events, including concerts, exhibitions, lectures and the annual Night of Churches.

History

Traces of extensive historical mining activity have been preserved in Slomínek near Mirovice, including abandoned quarry walls, spoil heaps and an old mine structure. In the Slomínek locality near Mirovice, a gallery with quartz-bearing gold-bearing veins has also been preserved in the terrain.

Landscape

Mirovice lies in the valley of the Skalice River. The Skalice rises in the Brdy Mountains and, after joining the Lomnice near Zvíkov Castle, becomes a right-bank tributary of the Otava.

Transport

Mirovice railway station is located on railway line 200 between Beroun and Protivín or České Budějovice; there is a connection via Prague.
