Vlksice: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes
Vlksice Fortress is the venue for recurring open-air performances by Divadlo Kašpar.
Culture and History
Remains of Renaissance sgraffito are visible on Vlksice Fortress and the adjacent courtyard wall. At House No. 1, an embankment with an earthwork that is still visible today probably marks the site of a fortified feudal residence that already existed at the beginning of the 14th century. A black kitchen has been preserved in the fortress; its chimney is unique in Central Europe due to its size.
Vlksice Fortress is not freely open to the public. Visits can be arranged by prior agreement with the owner; the owner guides visitors through Vlksice Fortress in historical costume.
The Neo-Romanesque chapel on the village square of Vlksice dates from 1900 and has a small choir loft. Its façade features a memorial plaque commemorating the victims of the First World War.
Landscape and Location
Vlksice lies in a valley between the Smutná stream and the Dobřemilický stream. The village is located in the Toulava tourism region on the border between South Bohemia and Central Bohemia.
The Jistebnická vrchovina Nature Park is one of the area's significant natural assets and is a protected area. In the Vlksice area, it protects a varied hilly landscape with fields, meadows and small areas of woodland.
Water and Fishing
Sport fishing is offered at Rybník Dolejší. There are three fishing platforms there, each with space for a maximum of two anglers.
Getting Around Locally
Vlksice has a bus stop. Public bus services from Vlksice to Milevsko, Nadějkov and Chyšky are adequately provided.
