Pistin: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Pištín presents historical architecture, regional landscapes and lively insights into village life within a compact area. The local history includes the Church of St. Lawrence, several preserved farmsteads, a former post office and inn, as well as the Včelařská expozice with its unusual collection dedicated to beekeeping.

Culture and Local Character

The Church of St. Lawrence defines the local character with a 36-metre-high tower. It has been fitted with a clock since 1846, which is wound by hand every day. The church is surrounded by an enclosed cemetery; its complex also includes a statue of St. John of Nepomuk.

The enclosed Farmstead No. 1 is evidence of older rural architecture. It dates from around 1700 and stands at the western end of the northern side of Pištín village square, below the church on the road to Pašice. At Farmstead No. 5, the residential building has an openwork curved wing gable. The property also includes a granary from 1863 with a simple triangular gable and a segmental-arched gate.

Among the smaller historic structures is the listed Neo-Gothic masonry wayside shrine “Boží muka”, dated by the year 1866. House and Inn No. 35 “Na Dolánku” served as a post office and a relay station for stagecoaches until 1863.

Through Landscape and History

The “Kolem Pištína na Blata” route is an approximately 24 km-long, easy circular cycling route that starts and ends in Pištín and is intended primarily for families with children and seniors. At the same time, the route introduces the Zbudovská Blata as a historic landscape featuring folk architecture, rural Baroque, wetlands and ponds.

Beekeeping and Village Life

The Včelařská expozice is located in the attic of the Spolkový dům in Pištín. It displays historic beekeeping tools and equipment, including items from 1900, straw skeps and historic honey extractors.

During cultural and social events in Pištín, the exhibition is open to the public; visits at other times can be arranged with the municipal office. Pištín also hosts the traditional gastronomic event “Pečeme, vaříme, smažíme”.
