Nová Bystrice: Apartments and Holiday Homes

The Church of St. Peter and Paul in Nová Bystřice dates back to the Middle Ages, is the most important landmark of the Nová Bystřice Urban Heritage Zone, and preserves valuable medieval architectural elements. These include valuable medieval enclosing masonry, the vault of the presbytery, a northern chapel, portals in the lower part of the tower and leading to the sacristy, as well as wall paintings in the presbytery.

Culture

The Muzeum veteránů in Nová Bystřice presents a completely different side of the town. More than 70 classic American automobiles are displayed in themed halls. New exhibits are added every season; the museum also prepares new films and comedies for the cinema.

Nature

The Blanko Nature Reserve lies within the administrative area of the municipality of Nová Bystřice and covers part of the cadastral area of Mnich u Nové Bystřice. It protects a mesotrophic pond with well-developed shoreline vegetation as well as a wet meadow. The Graselova stezka Nová Bystřice trail leads past the Mnišský and Proudný ponds to Blanko Pond, where this nature reserve is located.

Paths and Routes

The long-distance Stezka Českou Kanadou hiking route is approximately 110 kilometres long. It is divided into eight stages of 11 to 18 kilometres each and connects Nová Bystřice with Jindřichův Hradec, Slavonice and Dačice.

The 25-kilometre Textilní stezka trail begins behind Nová Bystřice on the road towards Hradiště and returns to Nová Bystřice at its seventh information board. The route is suitable for cyclists. The Stezka 20. století presents the historical development of the local region in the 20th century on two circular routes of 30 and 19 kilometres and begins in the square in Nová Bystřice, where an overview board is located.

The Stezka vyznání trail begins at the church in the square in Nová Bystřice. Five educational boards show important moments in the history of the Novobystřicko region, which are closely connected with changes in the Christian faith. The Stezka vyznání is just under 50 kilometres long; all the boards can be reached by car via paved roads.

The Graselova stezka Nová Bystřice trail starts at the information centre on the town square. Its route is marked with a yellow disc framed by a white letter “G”.

Getting Around

The Jindřichohradecké narrow-gauge railway is operating regular services again. All trains have their own bicycle carriage. During the summer holidays, the operator runs a bistro at Nová Bystřice railway station. The Nová Bystřice Tourist Information Centre provides information about bus and train connections, as well as the narrow-gauge railway and its timetable.
