Hummeln: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Hummeln reveals itself through unusually tangible evidence from history, sacred culture, and the landscape. The granary at House No. 1 in Homole stands beside Gate No. 1 on Homole village square and is considered a cultural monument. The granary served as storage for the winter and spring sowing or in the event of a failed harvest.

Culture

The chapels, too, tell stories of different periods: the Neo-Gothic Chapel of St. Joseph in Homole dates from the mid-19th century. A shrine dedicated to Saint Joseph replaced a wooden chapel there in 1949. In Nové Homole, the Chapel of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus was built in 1913 by a glazier from České Budějovice who came from the area.

The wooden statue “Světice z Homol” is held by the Alšova jihočeská galerie in Hluboká nad Vltavou and probably comes from the workshop of the Master of the Zvíkov Pietà.

Landscape

In the southeastern part of the Homole area, the functional supraregional biocorridor NRBK 118 runs along the Vltava. The mountains Skalka and Kleť are located in the vicinity of Homole. The wider regional surroundings of Homole also include Borovanský vrch [Borovany-Dvorec u Třebče] and Mužský, two mountains, as well as Chlumany, an ancient site.
