Culture and history
The Chapel of St. Wenceslas opposite the rectory dates from 1883. Next to the church in Čakov is a village fountain complex dating from 1869.
Archaeological investigations on the outskirts of Čakov uncovered settlement remains from the Hallstatt period, including an estate belonging to iron producers. In the forest 1.5 km south of Čakovec there is also a group of burial mounds from the Hallstatt and La Tène periods, dated to the 6th to 4th centuries BC.
Churches and farmsteads
At the highest point of Čakov stands the Early Gothic Church of St. Linhart, which is visible from far across the surrounding landscape. It dates from around the turn of the 13th and 14th centuries. The church contains the tombstone of Jiří Čakovec of Bohuslavice, dating from 1529; it is accessible during services.
The Baroque farmstead No. 6 in Čakovec stands on the site of a former Gothic fortress. It was built by monks from the Cistercian monastery of Vyšší Brod.
Landscape
Holubovská Bašta is located on the shore of the Dehtář pond, which is used for recreation. A hill in Holubovská Bašta offers panoramic views of the Dehtář pond.
Cycling
The official 43 km cycling route “Pedal Through the Budějovicko Region” runs through Křenovice, Čakov and Holašovice.
Cuisine
In the municipality of Čakov, at Čakovec 28, the Jihočeská Salaš restaurant serves traditional South Bohemian cuisine.
