Žimutice: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

St Martin's Church in Žimutice is an important cultural monument and a parish church. Žimutice is situated in gently undulating countryside rich in forests and ponds.

Žimutický Pond was created in connection with the history of the municipality of Žimutice on the parallel-flowing Židova strouha stream. Mount Zdoba is located in the vicinity of Žimutice. In the immediate surroundings of Žimutice are the Na Novině hill [Žimutice-Třitim], the (Padělky) hill [Záhoří u Bechyně], and Březí hill [Žimutice-Pořežany].

Paths

The walking route to Dubové Mlýny begins in the village square of Žimutice. It initially follows Road 147 for 2 km in the direction of Dolní Bukovsko, turns onto a local road to Dubové Mlýny, and then continues along a dirt track to Sobětice. Along the way, the route passes a group of three fishponds.

In the wider regional surroundings of Žimutice, the Židova strouha forms a canyon-like valley with rock formations that is suitable for walking. The excursion to Židova strouha is classified as challenging and follows a marked hiking trail.

History

The Žimutice Festival is part of the local traditions and takes place on the first Saturday in August. The Church of Svatý Jan is located in the wider regional surroundings of Žimutice.

A Neolithic settlement with Linear Pottery culture was discovered near Žimutice in 1969. Its discovery challenged the assumption at the time that South Bohemia had no Neolithic settlement.
