Culture and History

The Church of Saint Elizabeth in Blažejov was originally an early Gothic building from the second half of the 13th century. It is a single-nave masonry building with a polygonal presbytery, buttresses and a western tower. The portal on the ground floor of the tower dates from around 1300; in 1863–1864, the church was extended and remodeled in the Pseudo-Romanesque style.

On a rocky promontory above the Hamerský Potok below Blažejov, the remains of Vítkův hrádek can be visited. The medieval guard castle dates from the first half of the 13th century. From Blažejov, the remains are easily accessible via a marked hiking trail. Vítkův hrádek is an important archaeological site in the municipality of Blažejov; the triangular castle core, protected by a rampart and moat, contains the remains of a wall and a palas featuring so-called herringbone masonry.
