Culture and history

St. Nicholas Church was built in the first half of the 18th century around an older medieval church, which remained part of the structure. The former St. Nicholas Church presumably already stood in Tisová in the 13th century, was built in the early Gothic style and was structurally connected to a nearby fortress. The entrance to the Born family crypt is located in the centre of the church; the crypt was used at the end of the 18th century.

Next to St. Nicholas Church stands a memorial to 48 victims of the First World War. Different layers of history are therefore found close together at and within the building: the former church, presumably already existing in the 13th century; the building from the first half of the 18th century; the family crypt used at the end of the 18th century; and the commemoration of the victims of the First World War.

St. Nicholas is normally closed and opens to the public only during services. For an individual visit, guests can ask the municipal office about the keys and be shown around the church. This arrangement is part of the specific planning involved in visiting the church.
