Culture and History

The restored statue of Saint George stands in Studánka’s village square. It bears the date 1850 and has been protected as a cultural monument since 2008. Georg Böhm moved to Studánka in 1830 and devoted himself to artistic stone masonry there. His works include, in particular, stone crosses measuring 4 to 5 metres in height, as well as richly decorated columns with statues and wayside shrines. He was mainly engaged in this work from 1830 to 1850; his artistic output presumably reached its peak with the statue of Saint George, created in 1850.

The Boží muka wayside shrine is also one of the local examples of religious art: It was unveiled during the celebrations marking the municipality’s anniversary and supplemented with ceramic images of saints. The probable origins of Schőnbrunn – Krásné Studánky as a knight’s seat can be dated to around 1300; Studánka was first mentioned in writing in 1407.

Location, Landscape and Cycling Route

Studánka lies west of Tachov on road III/19910. A forest with the Rozsocha hill lies southwest of Studánka. The Lučina microregion cycling route, number 2138, also runs through the municipality.

Tradition and Events

Studánecká “Staročeská konopická” is a folklore festival and is currently one of the most important activities of the Medulky women’s association. The Staročeská konopická procession is accompanied by musicians.
