Dlouhý Újezd: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Dlouhý Újezd is first mentioned in 1361 under the name “Langendorfflein” and is located on the edge of the Český les Protected Landscape Area.

History and culture

A former fortress in Dlouhý Újezd was probably remodelled and eventually converted into a château. The site of the former château has completely disappeared beneath newer buildings and is no longer recognisable.

Around 250 gravestones have been preserved in the Jewish cemetery west of Dlouhý Újezd, including the oldest one from 1736. It is of historical value because of its Baroque and Neoclassical gravestones. The cemetery can be reached via a field path that leads south through the forest from the last houses on the south-eastern edge of the village.

A small chapel can be seen beside the road towards Tachov.

Nature and surroundings

The forested area west of Dlouhý Újezd is part of the Český les Nature Park. The Mechové rybníky group south of the village on the road to Žebráky includes interesting wetlands and a landscape section rich in flowers.

The Přimda mountain, Knižeci Strom mountain and Schneeberg mountain are located in the vicinity of Dlouhý Újezd. Further afield in the region are the historic Flossenbürg concentration camp site, Entenbil mountain and the Center of Europe monument.

Activities

Marked cycle route No. 2172 runs through Dlouhý Újezd. The local terrain is suitable for cross-country skiing in winter. The Goldsteig CZ 16 continues to Dlouhý Újezd and finally to Tachov.
