Lom U Tachova: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Lom u Tachova is arranged around a large circular village green. At the edge of the village green stands a late Baroque chapel dedicated to the Virgin Mary, dating from 1819 and restored in 2004. A chapel on the village green has a niche with a statue of Saint Florian on its façade.

Villagescape and History

Lom u Tachova was first mentioned in writing in 1379. On the road to Brod nad Tichou, in front of house no. 47, stands a late Gothic wayside shrine dated 1594. The stone late Gothic wayside shrine “Boží muka” has a polygonal pillar and a top crowned by a keel arch.

Possible remains of the former fortified manor include a barrel-vaulted cellar behind house no. 25 and low earthen elevations visible in its surroundings. Near the railway crossing, a circular stone stele bears depictions of a sword and a severed hand, as well as cross symbols.

Lom u Tachova railway station is located on railway line 184 between Domažlice and Planá u Mariánských Lázní.

Historical Monuments at Lomský mlýn

Lomský mlýn, formerly called Birlmühle, is mentioned as early as 1615. The mill has been preserved and is used for recreation; it can be reached via the road from Lom to Klíčov. In front of Lomský mlýn has stood a statue of Saint John of Nepomuk from the workshop of G. Böhm since 1829. The statue is a 280 cm-high granite sculpture, while the figure itself measures 94 cm.

Cycling

The signposted cycle route 2138 passes through Lom u Tachova. The 55 km route runs from Mariánské Lázně via Lom u Tachova to Přední Zahájí. It follows roads as well as local and farm tracks with asphalt, paved and unpaved surfaces and is of medium difficulty. The route is suitable for mountain bikes and trekking bikes.
