Culture

At Kladruby Monastery, the main guided tour presents the life of the monks in the Baroque Benedictine monastery: their accommodation, food, spiritual life, work and recreation. The restored areas of the new and old convents, as well as the cloister courtyard, are open to visitors.

A second tour focuses on the history of the Windischgrätz family, Alfred I and his wife Eleonore, as well as the economic use of the former monastic estate. It also includes the original interior of the princely library from the first half of the 20th century. The new tours “Klášter” and “Zámek” were opened to visitors on 1 April 2023.

The Benedictine monastery of Kladruby u Stříbra was founded in 1115 by the Bohemian prince Vladislav I. At the Kladrubsko Regional Museum, an exhibition on Kladruby’s 900-year history covers the period from the monastery’s foundation in 1115 to 1945.

The Kladruby Musical Summer takes place every year in summer in Kladruby Cathedral.
