Skašov is a valuable example of a village in the southern Plzeň Region. The historic centre is located in the southern part of the village and is grouped around a small rectangular village square with a chapel in the middle.
Culture and history
The tradition of toy-making in Skašov is around 200 years old. It experienced its greatest growth around the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries; in the middle of the 20th century, 52 families made toys in Skašov. Earlier and present-day products can be viewed in the Skašov Toy Exhibition.
The Skašov Chapel is a cultural monument built in 1882 and dedicated to Our Lady of the Snows. The village landscape also includes an unusual ensemble of traditional granaries. The first swimming pool in Skašov opened in 1937.
