Dolní Lukavice: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes
In Dolní Lukavice, Baroque architecture and music history stand side by side. Dolní Lukavice Château is a three-winged Baroque building commissioned by Count Ferdinand Morzin and designed by Jakub Auguston. Joseph Haydn worked at Dolní Lukavice Château from 1758 to 1760 and composed his first symphony there.
Culture and History
The park with its pheasantry at Dolní Lukavice Château is open to visitors. The single-nave Church of Saints Peter and Paul originally dates back to the Gothic period in the second half of the 13th century; it was remodelled in 1684 and subsequently in 1734. The town's Jewish cemetery also dates back a long way: it was founded in 1654, although no burials have taken place there since 1923.
Nature and Notable Trees
A double-row bald cypress, approximately 170 years old, stands in the château park of Dolní Lukavice. A lime tree in Barborka is estimated to be around 200 years old. It survived the storm of 1927, which uprooted the adjacent forest.
