Culture and History

The Church of St. Peter and Paul in Mileč acquired its present appearance in 1764 on the site of an older sacred building, presumably dating from the 14th century. It was built according to a design by the prominent Baroque architect Kilián Ignác Dientzenhofer. The historic organ in the church was built in 1764 by the Plzeň organ builder Leopold Rausch. It remained in a severely damaged condition with a high degree of authenticity until the beginning of the 21st century and was saved thanks to the initiative of the residents of Mileč.

The stone monument on the road from Mileč to Nepomuk has been restored; it was formerly known as a “wayside shrine”.

Landscape

North of Mileč stands a monument to the victims of the Thirty Years’ War. From there, it offers a distinctive view of the landscape, particularly Zelená Hora Castle and the town of Nepomuk. In the heart of the village stands the mighty Mileč linden tree beside the historic gate of a farmstead.

Paths and Routes

The marked Nepomuk–Oselce hiking trail runs through Mileč, continues south to Maňovický rybník, and then heads southeast into wooded areas. Cycle Route 2041 Nepomuk–Plánice also runs through Mileč, coming from Nepomuk to the north and continuing west to Plánice. The annual route programme of the Nepomuk branch of the Czech Tourist Club includes a 50-kilometre route that passes through Mileč.

Transport and Surroundings

Railway line 190 Plzeň–České Budějovice runs east of Mileč; a station on this line is located about 1 kilometre south of the village. A class III road branches off southwards, runs through Mileč, and then splits further to provide access to the surrounding settlements.
