Honezovice – Chapels, Farmsteads and Cycling Routes

Honezovice is home to a hexagonal half-timbered chapel with a shingle roof, lantern and onion dome. An inscription above its entrance dates the Chapel of Saint Barbara to 1715; it is considered a small sacred building of unique and valuable architectural character.

Culture and Rural Heritage

In the settlement of Hradišťany, which belongs to Honezovice, there is a hexagonal Marian chapel that was probably built in the first half of the 19th century. A large house, No. 18, with a Historicist façade and an adjoining gateway has also been preserved there.

A nearly completely preserved farmstead in Honezovice comprises a residential building with an interesting floor plan and a richly decorated gable. The rear outbuilding of this rural farmstead combines the functions of a stable, dovecote and barn.

The large farmyard, No. 10, occupies a prominent position among the Neoclassical farmsteads in Honezovice.

East of Honezovice village square, a small log cabin stands by the road and is considered one of the last of its kind in the surrounding area.

The chapels in Honezovice and Hradišťany share the same hexagonal floor plan, but differ in their dates of construction and architectural details. In Honezovice, they are complemented by the preserved farmstead, farmyard No. 10 and house No. 18 as further examples of rural architectural history. The visible historic fabric thus ranges from a small sacred building to agriculturally oriented properties.

Cycling Routes and Traces of History

Cycling Route No. 306 runs through the Honezovice area and continues to Kladruby and Teplá Monastery; Cycling Route No. 2270 crosses the cadastral area of Honezovice.

The two numbered routes have different focuses: Cycling Route No. 306 connects Honezovice with Kladruby and Teplá Monastery, while Cycling Route No. 2270 runs through the village’s cadastral area. Together, these details distinguish the routes by their numbers and their respective geographical references.

In the forest approximately 1.5 km beyond the settlement of Hradišťany are the remains of a Slavic hillfort from the 10th to 11th century, covering an area of approximately 2.3 hectares.

Approximately 200 m southwest of the remains of the Slavic hillfort, a burial mound field with twelve mounds was discovered.

On May 6, 2026, pilgrimage pump-track races were held in Honezovice.

The nearby surroundings of Honezovice include the landscape features recorded as hills: Za Humny [Honezovice], Hořina [Holýš], Dvanáctka [Honezovice-Hradišťany] and Krtínský vrch [Skapce-Krtín].

Each of the four named landscape features has its own place designation in brackets: Za Humny is assigned to Honezovice, Dvanáctka to Honezovice-Hradišťany, Hořina to Holýšov and Krtínský vrch to Skapce-Krtín. This also makes it possible to distinguish the hill names by their stated geographical references.
